Kushiage

Kushi-age is something like deep-flied vegetables and seafood skewered with pin. They are cooked just over the counter and served hot one by one. Prawns, scallops, onion and etc., depending on the season.

Umeboshi

Umeboshi is one of the typical traditional pickles in Japan. It is very sour, and it is said to be good for health. I look forward to having this homemade Umeboshi every year. My simple breakfast is sometimes just steamed rice and umeboshi.

Goya chanpuru

A friend gave me a goya (bitter vegetable originally from Okinawa) harvested at home. I made Goya chanpuru. Fry goya with pork, tofu and egg, and sprinkle dried-bonito. It is a summer stamina food.
